The Yeovil Federation is a Community Learning Partnership comprising 34 schools based around Yeovil and our FE College. Our schools are cross phase, some very small and some much larger, some very rural and some serving our busy market town. We have two special schools within our group further extending our pool of expertise and experience. Our schools are a mixture of LA maintained schools, multi-academy trusts and stand alone academies. We all believe that by working together we are better able to raise aspirations and achievement for all our learners.
Launched in 2004 with an initial membership of 22 schools, The Yeovil Federation was one of a very few successful bids to become a Community Learning Partnership fully funded by a government initiative. Although the national funding ended in 2007, the membership valued the work and wished to ensure the partnership continued, re-organising to secure this. In 2011 a further nine primaries and one secondary joined the Yeovil Federation and the purpose and direction of the partnership was re-focused and defined. In 2016, the creation of 2 new primary schools in Yeovil expanded our membership to 34 schools.
Our core purpose is:
To support schools in achieving the best outcomes for pupils as learners and young people who have high expectations of their education and aspirations for their future.
To encourage effective collaboration and sharing between schools/college, professionals and services in order to maximise opportunities and education provision for us all.
As member schools we are all committed to:
Sharing our expertise, experience, resources, time and opportunities with other schools/colleges, young people and staff in the Federation schools/college to improve provision
Working together with honesty and integrity to provide the very best quality education for all our young people, not just those in our own school/college
Recognising the needs and complexities of our wider community and working, through education, to help our young people take on valuable roles in that community and beyond
Supporting training and development in its widest forms for all our staff to raise levels of knowledge, skills, competence, confidence and commitment in their roles in school
